Bots in Google Earth
You can view the ongoing 0.3 work right now: UnypeBot is live inside the world. You can chat with it, it has the standard Alice brain.
It is a simple AIML engine integrated into Unype, which gets activated when you set your mode to ‘bot’. From that point on, you can park your bot and leave your salespost ( hotel, house for sale, car dealership, resort, or simply a store ) and go away. The Unype bot will talk to your visitors for you and keep a log of what happened. The brain is completely programmable by a simple text editor and a little knowledge of AIML so you can customize it to say exactly what you would like it to say.
Of course there will be additional ‘3D’ features before 0.3 is released, but for now, you can come inside the world and start playing with it. If you’d like to be an early tester, please email me at unypebeta at holoscape dot com.
0.2
Unype 0.2 is out. It is closer to a true multi-user Google Earth experience:
* you can see online users around you inside Google Earth
* you can see all online users under ‘Temporary Places/Unype Users’
* you can specify your own avatar ( any Collada file that GE supports )
* you can click on users’ avatars to get more information about them, add them, chat or talk with them.
* you can insert ’shared models’ when you are connected with a user. This is useful when you want to show someone a model interactively. You can even specify Google 3D Warehouse page links, Unype will extract the 3D model info from that page link.
* you can synchronize your layer visibility settings to make sure that you are seeing the same layers
* of course you can still follow/lead other users
One of the first things you may want to do is ‘pick an avatar for yourself’ in the ‘Options’ dialog and also specify a scale ( such as 10-20 ) so that you can see your avatar from relatively high altitudes.
Take it for a spin and let us know how it looks in the Unype forums.
